Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.

Ask Freelancer to Remote Login to my Mac for Finishing a Job

Hi, I want to hire a freelancer over the Internet to improve some parts of the User Interface of my iPhone app, not about graphics, but I think it is not safe to send the source code to the freelancer, so I am thinking to ask the freelancer to remote login to my Mac to do this job, then I can watch what he/she is doing.

Do you think it is a good idea?
If yes, any special software can make me safe to do this?
If no, what is the best way to do this?

Thanks.
Raymond

Maybe getting them to sign a NDA first may be a start. It seems your giving them full access to your code and this may not be a great idea. I would go with a developer that has a good reputation and with clients you can contact for references. OR just take the time and finish it yourself. Ultimately only YOU can decide if the risk is worth it

Doesn't belong in the coding section. Moved.

What you can do, if the Freelancer has a Mac, you can use iChat and screen share with the lancer. I do this all the time to help my brother with his Mac back at home while I am in another state at college.

Therefore, all you need is to get the iChat name of the user, or their AIM name and use the screen share option of iChat.

You will be able to stop the screen sharing at any point during the session and will be able to verbally speak to the Freelancer through the microphone on your Mac.

Let me know if you need any help setting this up or any further questions :)

    Good Luck!

I use TeamViewer. Works great, and there's no setup or anything to get it working.

I've worked via remote desktop for clients before, mostly to set up provisioning profiles so they can publish apps themselves. It was horribly slow. I couldn't imagine doing UI development this way, with a laggy mouse pointer and some key combinations that just don't work. It'll cost you more, because the developer will be working slower. Plus he'll be getting frustrated - as well as feeling like you think he's a crook the whole time. Best solution: get references and find someone you feel you can trust.

+1 to wheels. I've done this a few times and its horrible. If you don't trust the developer, find another one that you can. He won't be able to work, shortcuts doesn't work, everything is slow.
