Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
I have a paid app that I want to convert to free app with ads. The problem is I already have people who downloaded my paid app, If I create an update with ads in it then its not fair to them.
How can I make sure that I only show ads to new users and my older users don't see any ads ? or Do I have to create a New app ?

I searched for the same answer before and it turned out that you can't. Apple doesn't provide you with any way to know whether it is an update or new installations, etc...
The solution suggests to do another paid update that stores the date of the first release then release your update. However, there are two major problems: 1. If you delete the app, you will lose the date (solvable with server-side saving) 2. If you don't update the first time (unsolvable)
Most of the suggestions that I've seen that creating a new app is the best choice :S

Thanks..I guess I have to create a new App
Your best bet is to make a new app with ads in them. That is what I am doing for my previous game. Simply because yes it is unfair to those that bought it. You'll just have to update both.

I think an important part of this question is the size of the user base. If it's hundreds of thousands of users who continue to use it, then create a new app. If you have a few thousands installs and it's a one-shot usage, then just consider adding ads.

This is a good topic. I'm considering going from paid to free with in-app rather than advertisements. I wonder which one will do better? What do you guys think? What made you decide to go from paid to free with ads route?
I'm creating an entirely new app or a lite version of the existing to avoid messing the existing users who have downloaded the full version. What's the best way to make the most profit these days!?
Who cares if they see ads. You'll make more money if they do. It's a little different than the IAP situation where you are actually taking away functionality.
Well, like I said, if it's just a few users, you need to *consider* just adding ads and upsetting some users. For me, and my apps, and my user base, I'd always just create a new app.

A lot of devs complain that they can't get their customers to review their apps. It looks like you've found a system that guarantees reviews, congratulations.
Mastersdom hasn't told the full story here. Not only has he forced ads on customers who previously paid for the app, he has simultaneously released a seemingly identical 'Pro' version without ads. Disgusting behaviour.
If you want to get yourself out of the hole that you've dug, one thing you could do now is quickly submit an update without ads and apologize to your customers in the update information. But as you called me a twat earlier for pointing out the flaws in your business model, I don't know whether I should be giving you any advice.
I had the same question with my app. At the end of the day I added significant features in new version and made new features IAP. Old features become free ad-supported. It looks not an issue itself, since It happens. You can go shopping and find something very cheap that you paid some time ago higher price. Its OK. However I find hard way that what many users are really unhappy with Ads. Many of them just can not use apps with ads. So my advice is to give your users to get rid of the ads using IAP. Many of them will be ready to pay 0.99c just not to see jumping things on the screen. If you really want to save the ads for old users, you can try to keep some unique per-user information on your server (for example, SHA1 of the UDID or APP Id), and make the app check you server. You can do it only for those who claim they are upgraded. You may give them possibility to send you email from the app. Some will cheat, you can't check that really... But OK, you will have their emails. Have emails of your users is big thing, isn't it?
The main reason everyone is so annoyed is that there were already two versions, a paid and a free, so he now has three identical apps, two of which are free and the new one paid. If he only had a single app I could understand the change, but that wasn't the case.

There is one not so convincing solution found here:
