Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
7+ days to review? My app has a critical bug (one line of code was wrong) and it's in the Top 10 so I am getting 100s of complaints. Expedited review was refused. Why can't they get more staff? Going to learn Android now as having a critical bug for 7+ days just ruins the reputation of the app :( My concern is that it will be 7 months to review an app when there are 10 million apps

Don't bite the hand that feeds you. It's not their fault you've got a critical bug. Why did they refuse your expedited request - have you had one already within the year?
We all know their rules and timescales, you can't kick off about them now just because you've got a major bug.
Try the Amazon App Store - you'll LOVE the Apple review team after trying to get stuff past them. Or even worse, BlackBerry.

True AMazon app store are the worse AND slower !
Android instant release is good - it perfect for pushing out lots of updates and apps for tiny sales.
Hey thanks for the heads up on the Android situation. I LOVE Apple products. It's entirely my fault that I have a critical bug of course. It is just so frustrating to be sending out 100s of emails each day apologising when it is just one line of code :)
They've always been flexible and approved my requests in the past (2 within 5 months for a non top 10 app). When was the last time you requested an expedite?

About a month ago but it would have only been the 2nd time in a year that I asked.
It's good that higher placed apps don't get any favoritism in any way. Maybe they are just really overwhelmed at the moment and cutting back on expedited reviews. Hope it doesn't take longer than 7 days.
Yeah, I think for minor bug fixes Apple should allow developers to be able to release "patches" without having to go through the review process. Sure there would be some people who would exploit this, by releasing something against the developer guidelines in their patch, but does apple think it would be that high of number? Perhaps there could be some kind of "reputation" scale given to developers and only those with a certain score coudl be able to have the privledge.
But as it stands now, on multiple occasions, I have uploaded a "critical" update...waited 7 days, got the "In Review" email and seconds later "Processing for app store" Its clear they just opened the app (if even that) saw it didn't crash, and let it through...what was the point of waiting?

I've had the same thing happen. 7 days waiting, then 2 minutes in review. I imagine at this point they probably have a random screening thing going on not unlike the TSA.
Had an app metadata rejected on sunday and I submitted new metadata and still waiting for review 72 hours later. I thought these should only take a few hours to go in review again...

Queried, but not rejected. They asked a few questions and released pretty soon after I had answered.

Yup, twice in a month or two will definitely warrant them saying no.
They do need to reduce the approval time. In my opinion they need to decrease the time for updates more so than the time for new releases. A 7 day approval rate for a new app is acceptable because you can plan for it. In the 7 day period you can, plan, promote and build supporting resources for your app i.e. a website etc.
On the other hand they do need to reduce the time period for updates. a 3 day rate would be acceptable. It leaves individuals in a difficult position because there may be bugs that are not necessarily detected before release.
I work on both web and mobile based applications as a freelancer and the benefit of being able to quickly update a web based problem compared to a having to wait for a long approval process is a blessing.
IMO, they are letting you wait for around 5 business days before your app gets reviewed, on purpose.
Why? If they can have our apps reviewed in a consistent 7 days range, there is no reason they can't shorten it by having the reviewers work harder for a few weeks or so to do the catch up.
Now they have this 5 business day waiting for review time is more likely because they really want you to test your apps before submitting it to them. They give this wait for you so that you dont' waste their time by submitting without testing thoroughly. And for updates, they keep it pretty much the same is because they don't encourage just one or two minor feature or fix to be submitted.
If devs know that the turnaround time is only one day from submitting their app to approval, i am sure the number of apps submitted will be much higher. Same for updates.

Urgh. Have been waiting over 7 days now for the fixed version to go live. A whole year of work down the pan. Hopefully the app can recover. Getting tired of sending emails out to those that "report a bug" but it's the least I can do. :(
Is that 8 business working days or does it include weekends? I just posted in the Apple Support forums and was told it is around 5 business working days. I submitted on a Saturday and as it is only Monday I am only on my 6th business working day. Could well be BS but I don't know.

Saturday is the worst day to submit an app now it seems. Submitting on a Saturday means you have to wait until the next Monday. Sunday apps are usually reviewed later on Mondays, towards Tuesday. I am currently waiting on a very important app since last Sunday and expect it to go in to review by tonight.

0 • Off Topic Insightful Disagree Dislike Like Awesome720 a day * 7 days = about 5000 apps to "review" every week for a 24 hours shift :)
It means probably other 5000 people were waiting for theirs 2 minutes in the queue before you ;)
PS: I think the number is more realistically 15k or something like that...
