My sales haven't really dropped much since iOS 6. Sales on both iOS and Android have been down to about half of what I've been used to for several months though.

The number of posts really dropped when the site was down. Many of the regular posters have probably moved on to another forum site.

Problem is that if you type iphonedevsdk.com in your browser it says error.

The way I access the site now is by typing iphonedevsdk in google and clicking the link.

Don't know why but this is the reason people can't access the site.

iphonedevsdk.com won't work, instead always prepend www., i.e. www.iphonedevsdk.com

I stopped coming after the redesign, the new forum had css files hosted on a host that was blocked at my work so the forum was impossible to browse (seems to work now).

I just checked back now, I'll try to start coming more often

I think it's partly because this new forum doesn't automatically subscribe you to threads that you post in or start. And it's not very clear where the subscribe button (star) is anyway for new users. I've mentioned this to the admins a while ago. Also, Favicon's missing, lots of other minor stuff broken. Although I think they may be doing better about fighting spam.

I wish someone would start a new forum, but it's not easy to set up right or to get people to migrate. You'd have to get some of the awesome core people to move like Duncan C who answers peoples' questions every day.

My sales don't seem to be affected much by iOS 6, down only a little.

$90/day is not too bad to sustain you until you develop something new

they're paying $120k/yr for iOS devs here and 1 listing for $200k for an architect. Time to give up the dream and start polishing the resume.

I got hit by the 1-2 whammy. First the search results change killed one of my more popular apps. It went from 100/day to 15/day. Then iOS 6 and it killed off my 2nd-4th most popular apps. The other 15 apps bring in remainder 20% of revenue and hasn't really changed much. So when people say their sales have increased, are they talking about their 10 copies/day increased to 15 copies/day or are they talking about 100 copies / day to 150?

The App Store and world doesn't owe me or anyone anything. It is what it is. When the market is telling me I need to move on then I move on.

That is a very big part of why I don't continue conversations. Or why I might not continue conversations. I forget what I commented on and in what forum, so the conversation stalls. I didn't even know about the star until just now, so thanks for that!

For a while, when the site was down, a few of us were over on MacRumors. I guess some still may be. I started my own forum and launched it literally minutes before this one came back. Dang the luck. I don't think that a different forum would really help any though. Is this new one so flawed that it is keeping people away? Or rather, is it so beyond fixing that it is keeping people away?

Things started dieing down this summer for sure. I think it is a combo of the tow tho (site and sales down). I also could not get on at work for the longest time.

i think the site being down for awhile hurt quite a bit. the other part is that it doesn't work from typing iphonedevsdk.com in the browser. i just thought it went down again until i tried it in google today. can't expect people to type www. gotta get that fixed.

The admins really should have sent a bulk email out when it went down stating their intentions so at least people who are now no longer here (as a result of thinking it was perma-fucked) would have known it was coming back. They had all the email addresses, so it was a MAJOR oversight imo.

IMO the site just turned ugly after the redesign. The text is too small and the layout is just cluttered with gradients and drop-shadows everywhere--making it load slow and hard to read, especially on smaller screens.

the new design doesn't work well with my computer at work, which uses a stripped down version of ie7. also sales are down a bit. plus it seems like most of the big topics have already been discussed.

I agree. It's just a crap design. I'd rather have the old site back, to be honest - it may have been spammy but at least it looked good and was usable. I actually PM'ed the admin shortly after it came back online. He was enthusiastic and promised that improvements were coming. But of course, nothing has changed :(. It's a bid sad really, this was a great forum.
