adMob: Can I use the same Publisher ID on several apps?

kernixkernix Posts: 7New Users
Hello.

I have an iphone app which works with adMob. I have another app which is pretty much the same app I already have on the appstore, but in a different language(I haven't used localization, instead I simply submitted another app).

I want to use the same Publisher ID in both of the apps - Must I use different publisher ID for each of the apps? Do you have any idea what is adMob's policy on the matter?

EDIT: OK, just found this thread: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/google-admob-ads-sdk/gNZ6xD0IXw8/x6axuJEmXK8J

In short, Eric from adMob team, writes there that it's OK to use the same Publisher ID on several apps.

Thanks anyway.

I would still consider making 2 different Publisher ID on the adMob mediation. Some ad networks do better with certain regions and since your second app is for a different language you might get better results if you separate the two. For example InMobi specializes in Europe and US while HUNT is mostly Spanish and Portuguese. So if your other app is spanish, you'd be better off showing HUNT as the first ad networks and something else for the english app.

    Just my two cents.

esoteric, thanks for the input. But doesn't adMob know where the app is launched from? I can see in the logs that it knows the location worldwide, hence I believe that it will choose the most adequate ad by region, don't you think?

By the way, I haven't touched on any of the settings in my adMob account(didn't touch on the mediation section) - do you usually customize something there in order to increase revenue?

@esoteric I have also seen my friend who is currently running an admob campaign for his apps and he uses the same publisher ID on several apps.

You certainly can use the same publisher ID on several apps, I was just saying it may not always be the best move.

@kernix If you're only using the AdMob ad network, then you should use the same publisher ID. I was thinking more if you're using the AdMob Mediation then you have to choose which of your ad networks will try to display first. Some ad networks are better for certain regions.
