Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.

patent from US on iPhone app

Hello guys! This is my first post here. Thanks for reading. I am developing an app and would like to get it patented. Is this possible or something that people do not do? If its fairly common what is the best way to try to get something like an application patented?
Many TIA!!

It's entirely useless unless you plan on hiring the lawyers to enforce it. Worse than useless, because you have to detail exactly how you've done what you've done, which gives competitors an opportunity to analyze it and come up with non-infringing implementations.

Normally, in the USA, an attorney that specializes in intellectual property rights would file the patent. But, like most other things, you can have a go at it yourself. Google the United States Patent and Trademark office.

Thanks a lot. I can see what you mean. I suppose we would need to spend that energy and $$ on Branding. Maybe we would be better off.
    thanks.

Yes you can get/apply for a patent on the underlying logic if used in an iPhone app. I have several pending.

Would you be interested in telling me the process that you went through and how much$$ it was? I believe that I might be interested if its not too much $$. I was thinking legalzoom, but if I can do it without a lawyer that would be best.
TIA and PM me if you would rather.

Which would of course only effect the US store. Other countries do not allow ridiculous software and/or business patents.
