Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
I've found that my one app that makes 99% of my income has been cracked and it gives me extreme rage to think people are downloading it for free. I plan on reporting the links to the file hosting companies to remove the file from their servers. Anyone had any luck doing this?
Filedude is one place and they require that all copyright claims be faxed to some number. I'm going to give it a go, but it just seems like I'm wasting my time "faxing" something.
You should be pleased that someone considered your app worthwhile enough to crack. In our case, the actual cracking brought in a larger user base and actually boosted our rankings.

Yea I thought about that. I am kinda glad someone took the time to crack it. Makes me feel special. Just not the whole sharing/downloading for free part. How exactly do you know it boosted sales?
I used to be worried about this when my first app was cracked. The truth is that less than 6% of devices are jailbroken. Yeah, you might lose a few "sales", but most of these people would have never bought the app in the first place.

Aight man, thanks for that link. I might look into something that can "detect" if the app is pirated and then if it is, then make it to where a bunch of kittens flood the screen or something random like that.

Throw some ads, you might make some money off the cracker..

Honestly, the time you are devoting to fighting this type of thing is far better spent on either improving your apps or creating new ones.
As somebody else said, the small percentage of people that are actually downloading your app free of charge probably wouldn't have bought it anyway.
In reality, users that pirate your application probably wouldn't have purchased it anyways. It's a sad fact, but one that I've personally come to accept.
Forget Filedude, they do jack **** with DMCA requests. However, media fire, file sonic, and file ape will comply with DMCA requests.
Granted, I know that there are some people that would never buy my app and thus it shouldn't be considered a "lost sale", however that doesn't mean I should sit idly by and still allow them to benefit from pirating it.
Do you spend money on server administration as a backend for your app? If not, I wouldn't worry about cracking much.
Besides, if big players like Adobe can't keep their software from being cracked, there's probably nothing you can do about it either. Crackers gonna crack.
