Application that interacts with the proximity sensor in background

SerongaSeronga LatviaPosts: 2New Users Noob
#The question is about ios

Recently our company began patenting a new iphone case and we got an idea of making an application that interacts with the proximity sensor and switches off the screen, while something is infront of the phone, as it does the telephone app, voip apps and this one: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hardware-tools/id493206334?mt=8 .

But the main problem is that we want it to interact with sensor in background, too. Shazam, Dictophone and xRec ( https://www.appaddict.org/view.php?trackid=670777247 ) apps use microphone in background and xRec even records the screen in that condition, so we still hope that it can be possible. May be there is possibility to make this app a voip or tracking position program and add this "side effect" of proximity in background?

Thank you in advance.

Serge

Probably not. If your app doesn't specifically use one of the approved reasons for background processing for their intended purpose, it will be rejected.

From Apple's iOS App Programming Guide those apps are allowed to run background:
Apps that play audible content to the user while in the background, such as a music player app
Apps that record audio content while in the background.
Apps that keep users informed of their location at all times, such as a navigation app
Apps that support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
Apps that need to download and process new content regularly
Apps that receive regular updates from external accessories

So it seems that you cant make an app for that since it would be rejected by Apple.

So like make it doing some of this:

Apps that play audible content to the user while in the background, such as a music player app
Apps that record audio content while in the background.
Apps that keep users informed of their location at all times, such as a navigation app
Apps that support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
Apps that need to download and process new content regularly
Apps that receive regular updates from external accessories

but add this "side effect" of proximity in background?
