Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
Re: Iphone/Ipad App developer needed to create Medical Apps.
Hello Prospective Programming Guru, I am a medical resident that will be starting his residency (formal medical training) to become a qualified doctor. I have noticed that there is a shortage of specialty apps for preparation for medical licensing boards. I am interested in creating an app for that purpose. To that end, I am primarily looking to create such an app to embellish my resume. I am looking for someone who is capable of helping me create a simple app. If any revenue is generated, we can work out a way that the programmer gets paid adequately for his contribution. Additionally, you will be recognized as the soul and spirit behind the development:)
In essence, it will be an app that will have Questions and Answers on various topics to help prepare medical/dental/optometry students prepare for their exams. There are certain niches that have not been provided with apps and I would like to fill that gap.
I have attached pictures below from other similar apps. I am essentially looking for help for someone to create a template where I can edit the content myself and upload questions/pictures as time progresses to improve the question bank. It would be essentially a very simple app without media and primarily text based.
I have no knowledge about programming or creating apps but I have plenty of knowledge in medicine. With your help, I am looking to create an app that will help students prepare for their difficult exams.
If you have any suggestions or recommendations as to how I can proceed on this front, please contact me at tanequil@gmail.com or at 585 200 3817
I've created such an app (see CardioThoracic Study Questions on iTunes store if interested), and I can tell you that it is not a trivial or simple exercise. You need content (questions) for which you must validate the answers as being both correct and current. You need a backend database (usually involving CoreData or sqlite directly), and any other embellishments you may want to add. You frequently need multimedia for questions (think cine angiography). You need references and critiques/explanations to back up your question/answer set.
If you're serious about such an app, your first step would be to contact the American Board of Whatever (or the Royal College of Something) and ask for recent, but no longer used, content. If I were a potential examinee, I would not trust questions and answers developed by other potential examinees. The stakes are just too high.
Having completed step 1, then I would learn to program the app (hey, your a doctor) or hire someone to do it. Expect to pay 5 figures.
I hope you program it - be sure to let us know when its available. You'll be proud of yourself.
