Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.

Warning: "Format specifies id but the argument has type SEL"

SteveMobsSteveMobs Posts: 102Registered Users
I am logging a certain selector with NSLog:
SEL selector = @selector(whatever);
if ([self respondsToSelector:selector]) {
[self performSelector:selector];
} else {
NSLog(@"does not respond to selector '%@'", selector);
}

Since XCode 4.4.1 I'm getting the following warning:
Format specifies id but the argument has type SEL
Whats wrong with it? I also tried:
NSStringFromSelector(selector)
but this did not work either.

Thanks for any hints.

    Ups, sorry. NSStringFromSelector did fix the problem. Somehow, XCode kept showing the warning untill I did a 'Clean'. Thanks anyway.

    I've had problems with Xcode failing to change my program after I make source changes before. I wasted almost a day trying to debug something, and then finally realized that none of my source changes were being compiled. I've been on the watch for that problem ever since so I can report it.

    In your case it sounds like the same bug. See if you can reproduce it, and report it as a Radar bug if so. Apple needs to hear about problems with the developer tools so they actually clean up their stuff.
