Using a NSString to load a void function

Here is my code:


NSString * Option1;

Option1 = @"Function1";

[self Option1];

- (void) Function1 {
	//my function
}

When it reaches [self Option1] it crashes, I was wondering what method I could use to make this possible? Thanks.

You didn't really provide enough context. How does the string relate to the function/method? Why is this stuff just floating around with no real sense of structure?

Ok just look at this line:

[self Option1];

Option1 is a NSString with the content "Function1"

So it actually ends acting like this:

[self Function1];

But the self part is a method call, so it doesn't make sense. It's a nonsense collection of code, and your goal is not clear.

Yes, I'm trying to call the method name that is the same as the value of the NSString

Ok, you keep asking variations on this question over and over again, and each time you are told that it isn't a good way to do things. So why are you trying to force the issue?

But if you insist, then check out NSSelectorFromString.
