Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
Is anyone aware of problems using a developer certificate on a PowerPC. I'm running the sdk on an iBook G4 without any problems but have read a forum entry (elsewhere) that mentions a workaround for a problem.
I'm just about to buy my developer certificate but wanted to make sure it was possible to use it on an older mac before I parted with my precious cash. When I saw the previous post I started to panic.
Do you have any suggested urls or even what you searched for on google as I haven't even found any other mentions about it.
Thanks for the reply. I managed to find the signing script and have had my applications running on an iPod Touch for a while now, however, I've now been trying sign my application for distribution using the process described by Apple and I've run aground. I've looked all over the forums with people having the same problems but I haven't found anyone else who has used a PPC and got it working.
I been trying for about 2 weeks on and off but I keep getting the following error,
"The binary you uploaded was invalid. The signature was invalid, or it was not signed with an Apple submission certificate"
If it wasn't for your post I would assume that it was definately the PPC that was the issue but I have your post rattling around in my head.
Yea I got that same error. The trick is to keep trying believe it or not. You have to hit build a few times till you see no errors in the build results window. Compress the file and upload. You may have to do this a few times before it will take but it will. Also make sure your using a Distribution certificate and that the binary signed properly. Also when you view the contents of your bundle make sure you have a _Codesign folder. But keep trying its possible.
How exactly do I make sure it is signed properly, do you mean use "codesign -dvvvv". I did that the other day and it looked ok against the examples I found on the forums.
At least I know other people have got it working, which will hopefully save me £700+.
Ok I forgot to mention one key thing I did was to comment out two lines in the script that you got online. Its the lines that move the and remove the _Codesign dir. I think the problem is the script codsigns the binary then makes changes to the same bin. This causes Apple to reject the binary when you try and upload. By commenting out these lines and again building a few times till the output build window says it Codsigned your app you should be ok. Also make sure Active Configuration is set to your Distribution profile. Everything has got to be perfect for this to work. Apple likes to make even the simplest things as hard as possible.:o
