Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
I've read varying/conflicting answers on this and I need some definite answers.
I'm currently at the start of developing a turn-based multiplayer game with Game Center. I've been following Ray wenderlich's tutorial, and I've got the player being authenticated in the simulator and the match making viewController popping up, but that's as far as I've got so far.
So first question is, is it possible for my code (via the simulator), and my iPhone to connect/match/find each other? I've read that this is not possible, but I'm sure I saw a video on Youtube some months back, of a guy that managed to get both of them communicating in a turn-based situation using GC. He created a slider, that he changed on his phone, send that back to the simulator which showed the change, and then was able to change it on the simulator which was sent back to the phone.
2nd question is, what aspects of turn-based Game Center functionality can you test with just the simulator? and/or 1 device?
I wasn't imagining things, after a bit of searching, I've found the Youtube video.
Maybe it's something different, but it seems to be possible to match/play from the simulator to the phone (although he's using an iPod Touch) and back again, is that something different?
On the move, however nerdy it might sound, it’s always practical to have a gaming device at hand. You never know when you’re going to end up in line, stuck in traffic, or locked in an elevator for three days in a row.
I've recently been working on a Turn Based Match game using a phone and simulator, it works fine, but there are a couple things that I've noticed. First the simulator won't receive turn events, so for my project I was using a interface I built instead of the gamecenter view, on my phone I have it update when its the players turn again, but the simulator will never update unless I reload the view. Also I don't know if It was just a fluke but I wasn't able to invite the simulator to a match, but the simulator could invite my phone via game center invites.
