Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
Any game artists want to collaborate on the Atari Pong Indie Developer Challenge?
Title says it all. I'm an iPhone dev with published apps and quite a bit of OpenGL programming experience. Would like to work with an artist to put together an entry for the Pong challenge mentioned here...
I'm happy to work with either 2D or 3D artists, preferably someone with at least a passing familiarity with the process of producing art assets for a video game. Any prize money would be split 50/50, of course. PM me or respond here if interested.
I'm aware that there is controversy over the rights and payments for this contest, but the people who are listening to these complaints don't realize several things:
1. Even not considering the post-publishing revenue stream, most Indie iPhone games never even make the $5000 that the 7 runner-ups will be guaranteed to receive, much less the $50,000 that the first-place winner is guaranteed to receive.
2. Most serious indie devs who would enter this contest don't care about the rights issue because they would never care to publish a Pong game outside of this contest because they know that a Pong clone would never make any money at all outside of this contest.
3. Most people doing the loudest complaining have never actually published an iPhone game and thus don't realize points #1 and #2 above, so their complaints are mostly out of ignorance.
Although I appreciate your feedback, I don't feel it is valid, and I honestly wish you hadn't poisoned my otherwise positive, hopeful plea for collaboration with negativity. Thanks, though.
