Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
Damn, since we're in the off-topic forum anyway, I have to say that you young guys are making me envious.
I already can't see the pixels on my 28-inch screen at normal working distances. A retina 27-inch screen would be wasted on me, unless it were at least six feet across and I could hang it on the wall opposite the couch. I use reading glasses to check output on Retina displays, but I absolutely hate them and wouldn't care to develop with them on.
I'm saving my Apple device money for Presbyopia laser treatments, when they become mainstream. That's the product release I'm waiting for :)
Just ordered my 256 GB Retina MacBook Pro! Gotta love Educational discounts; $200 off and a $100 iTunes gift card as part of the Back to School program :D
I'll finally be able to start getting serious about app development in 3 weeks or so when it arrives :)
I was never planning on trying to repair it myself.... The most I've done to a laptop is replace the ram and HDD, and to be honest with the options available for the retina MBP I'm fine with not being able to
Does the simulator make use of the pixels properly? And, how much of the iPad storyboard fits into the screen in IB?
Right now, I'm using a 2009 13" MBP. I've been thinking about getting either a 13" Macbook Air (with 8GB RAM), or possibly going all out and getting the Retina MBP. The cost difference is a little hard to justify though, so that's why I was wondering about the above questions... I can already imagine the horsepower difference, I'm just having a hard time figuring out if the larger screen will really do me that much good.

The simulator does use the pixels properly, so it's a great laptop for iOS development. I didn't try the iPad simulator but it should be just about the right size (it was a pain to use on my 13" MBA :/)
