Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.

11. Angry Birds could have been written by any of our more knowledgeable posters on this boards...and there are many...and not cost 70,000 Pounds. And would have been done in less than a month.
Don't misunderstand....I like Angry Birds and think it is a great game, but seriously, there are so many apps that use the same layout, physics engine and simple graphics, and strategy levels that it could just as easily have been made by another experienced developer on this board.
Having said that, they deserve all the success that they got with it...and that is what makes the app store and program so good.

That can be said about pretty much anything after the fact. Its not just about game design and gameplay its about marketing and they are certainly doing something right.

Read #1 and #6...they got lucky with Angry Birds.
It became their first big hit.
And now they're marketing it in all directions.
That's why I'll state it again...
The iTunes app store is a great opp for anyone trying to get noticed with an app.
Sure it does, if they were not working on it full time. They probably spent most of their time on other ventures that they believed would be more successful. They may have been doing contract work, and working on the game in their down time.
This is an informative post. I did know a few points but these points were new to me: 1. Angry Birds was made by a team of four people and took eight months to finish because it was such a low priority for the company.
3. Angry Birds fans include public figures as diverse as David Cameron, Paul Gascoigne, Kylie Minogue, Conan OBrien and Jon Hamm, Mad Mens Don Draper.

Less than a month? Are you kidding? I can't tell whether or not you're being sarcastic, but in case you are serious..: I think you're shortchanging the efforts of the developers.
It's easy to look at something after the fact and say "I could create that", leaving out all the trial and error efforts that have lead to the final product. Sure you could create it faster/more efficient now that you know exactly what the final game should be like.
It reminds me of the kind of attitude that script kiddies and l33t h4xorz always seem to display, boasting about how they created some amazing piece of software "in an hour coz I was bored", conveniently leaving out the amount of time it took to create all the essential helper libraries.
Having said that, they deserve all the success that they got with it...and that is what makes the app store and program so good.
Everybody gets a fair shot at it.
Of course Angry Birds had a lot of luck too, I mean there are many games of equal quality that get much less attention, BioSub for example.
I think is best not to say, how and why it would take so much or in other case too little to attain a remarkable amount of success, because, look at the past: how P&G became so big starting off with just soaps or how Windows spent Millions and Millions to develop Windows Vista and have it gutted so quickly. Sometimes it just comes through for you and other times you would just have to be at peace with analogy that Life is just unfair. nough said. :D

0 • Off Topic Insightful Disagree Dislike Like AwesomeI honestly don't see how it got so big. The concept is so simple, and there are similar games already.
Also, I would like to add #11: Anyways, the devs sure are living big!
