Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
Hi guys, I've posted short blog post about apps&games PR today. If you are interested in communication with journalist or have some interesting experience I would love to hear it.
Haha I really like the analogy of the post about talking to the sexy girl at a bar. Especially the last bit about "talking to her less attractive friends first to get her attention" brilliant!
Anyway, my best experience with dealing with the press was getting a small blurb on 148apps.com I wrote a press release linking my Movie Clock app to the movie 'the Avengers' by writing about the large number of people from different countries who had used my app to connect in counting down to movie. I used most of the techniques you described and released it on the day the movie came out (when everyone was clamoring for Avengers news) Then all I did was find the contact email of some of the major players (and not so major) and send them the press release (publishsed via PR mac) and asked them politely to check it out.
Much like the girl at the bar, you'll never get anywhere if you don't relentlesy pursue her!
Hi, thanks a lot for nice words! I wonder if you send your press release to some general email contact or you already have personal address and some relation with journalist?
Currently sat with Chris James of Pocket Gamer and Slide fame. We've been doing this since apps and mobiles games were a twinkle in their daddy's eyes so know most the journalists. It's purely just taken time and a lot of networking events:)

Truth be told I bought a list of iOS press release contacts for $5 from fiverr.com, I then sent my press release to "most" of them individually (with a promo code)
