Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.

Has anybody here used Essential App Marketing?

I was contacted by a representative of Essential App Marketing Essential App Marketing who would like to do PR work for my app. Has anybody on iPhone Dev SDK had any past experience with them, good or bad?

EAM charges from $4k to $7k for their services.
For that amount you can get about 30-40 (up to forty!!!) reviews in popular review sites all over the world - we believe that it should generate much more sales than EAM has generated for Super Diet Genius.

You can send review requests to 480+ iphone review sites in our database (see sig), those sites that don't do free reviews will offer you to make a paid reviews.
iSpreadNews.com - VERY CHEAP (from $63) way to send your iPhone/iPad app announcement to hundreds of blog & news sites owners over the globe.

Just remember that there other countries besides US!

Site that wants you to PAY MONEY for a review are questionable and oftentimes don't have the viewership numbers high enough to even get your money back.

Does this mean that you send announce to 250k emails? That's impossible, because this means that you your client will get several thousands of autoreplies like "out of office" and "I'm on vacation" and the client will spend weeks browsing those autoreplies. So EAM, please state how many contacts will receive announcements of the iphone app.
Of course not. It is about quality over quality. Getting placements in high profile publications such as The New York Times, Gizmodo, and CNET do more than getting 50+ app review websites. The number of eyeballs of consumers are all that matter, not the sheer number of sites.

As for iSpreadNews.com - we are very focused, if you order iOS app promotion we'll send your review requests only to editors/owners of iphone-related news sites and blogs. We do the sending via both emails and contact forms (almost half of contacts we send app announcements to can be contacted only via contact forms). We are not aware of any agency that sends announcements via contact forms.
There is an entire world outside of iPhone related news sites and blogs. In fact, most of the population of the world is surfing on sites that are outside the realm of iPhone related news sites and blogs. We not only cover that, but also select relevant media in newspaper, magazines, radio, online newspapers, blogs, forums, and websites.

Also all 3 case studies on EAM site mention publication only in English-speaking media, while iSpreadNews sends announcements to review sites that post news in 23 languages.
We send announcements to our international database as well.

Long story short - it's not the number of review or websites that count. It's getting on websites in prominent places that have higher readership and syndication value.

We also don't "SPAM" the media and take on low-dollar projects and do high volume work. We screen apps that we believe have the potential to make a very positive return off of our services.

Basically what you do is called "sending SPAM messages" to a target audience. And that's what you do in this forum as well. You write pretty much the same message in every single thread advertising your dubious service. And what you actually ask money for is for pressing a button which will automatically send several hundreds of messages and sumbit several hundrens of contact forms. I think $160 is a bit too much for such kind of service. I'd rather find 10-20 review sites myself and write a personal letter to each of them.

By the way is anybody here who paid for their service? What was the result?

We tried ISpreadNews a few months back with Tesla Wars. They've sent our messages to all the sites they could offer, I cannot remember the number, but it was something like 450 back then or something. We did get some reviews. Unfortunately, some were based on our message, some bloggers didn't even care to ask for a promocode and download our app. And we didn't get reviews from Gizmodo or NYT or other big guys.

What we were trying to achieve was getting to other countries. Everyone in the US has either published our game's review or has already got quite a few pitches about it or wasn't big enough to get noticed by us, so, I suppose, these sites haven't been noticed by generic iPhone owners. So we wanted to get some publicity in Sweden, Turkey, you know, elsewhere. And though we did get a few reviews, particularly in Romania and Poland, it didn't affect the sales.

I don't know what the reason is. Maybe it's just because our game is old. Maybe ISpreadNews could work for a brand new game. All I can say is that we didn't want to use it when Zombie Quest came out.
