Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Best App Promotion for under $100?

djbrooks111djbrooks111 Posts: 41Registered Users
What is the best app promotion for under $100 that is going to drive a decent/good amount of traffic to my app? I was considering TapJoy's PPI, but their prices are misleading. On their main homepage they say PPI bids for as low as $0.10, but when you actually sign up and create the app you want to promote, the minimum bid is $0.50. Any ideas?

Thanks,

David Brooks

There are a lot of great ways to get your App some coverage for free - Alan from Appromoter is on here a lot talking about their service - it's a good place to have yourself indexed (I like their Promo code management for reviewers), and there are a few other sites who run similar indexes that are worth adding yourself to.

The truth is, how far that $100 goes is entirely down to you - you can distribute Press Releases relatively effectively for $100 - what matters is how exciting / interesting the story you tell them is. Is there a human interest or controversial angle that makes your App a no-brainer to cover?

From what we've seen, at that price-range, margin-based advertising will be a very slow way to grow (i.e. spending $100 in PPI / PPC, in the hopes of getting $150 back in sales to spend next month), and frankly - paid campaigns are very inconsistent in results - typically not very effective. I would definitely spend some time exploring your positioning and then get it out there and... well.. hope :)

    Good luck,

    Chris

I don't see many stuff you can do with $100 besides paying to have your press release correctly distributed. Like Chris said, the importance is the angle you have or you won't have much coverage. You could also use it to subscribe to a tool like Appcod.es or MobileDevHQ to improve your App Store Optimization.

Do you plan on investing time too? Because that is going to be needed for sure..

Oh, and don't pay for reviews (I'm still waiting for someone to tell me they're happy about paying for a review)

    Good luck!

    Here are my questions:

How does iSpreadNews and Appromoter compare to PRMac? Do they guarantee that the news sites will publish the news? What's the success rate of news being posted? Will the news that is posted be SEO optimized and indexed? Regarding the review, are the reviews guaranteed and how much exposure do the reviews get? Bottomline is, spend money on services that is widely known and has a high reputation in the community and is also affordable.

In $100, it is possible to give press releases but they must be made very interesting to attract people. There should be controversial issue in the press release.

I don't think "App Store Optimization" is something that worth to spend time and money, the most important thing to rank higher is download counts. Nothing more, nothing less..

For example, if someone search "pdf reader" and your app is called "pdf reader pro", do you think you can rank very high? No, unless you got lots of downloads. Otherwise you may be listed on page 2, 3... App name, keyword, descriptions... not useful at all.
My app is $1.99, anyone want to exchange review with me??
Please PM me if you want. Thanks!!

Not sure I would agree with the above. ASO doesn't have anything to do with ranking. It's to do with where you appear in a search. If it's done well you'll utilise words that people are using to search that are relevant to your app but that don't have much competition. Every single client we've implemented this for has seen an increase in people viewing and subsequently downloads.

To make it clear, when submitting an app, developers are permitted to add key words as long as they total no more than 100 characters including spaces. Keywords are crucial to getting your app discovered and this is where App Store SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) comes in.

Often, developers simply submit a list of words without applying any methodology to what they are doing. ASO will help generate the most effective keywords possible. Of course, a keyword has to be relevant to the app that is being marketed, but it is also worth bearing in mind that fighting over a very common or popular series of words may not be the best option if your app has little chance of appearing (that's when you would appear low down).

I'm not saying i would suggest ASO as the best way to spend the budget you have BTW:)

I checked appcod.es service, it is quite interesting, they provide the guesses of competitors' keywords as well as the popularity of the search queries, how do they get those data?

I was wondering if anyone has actually paid for a subscription to any of the services like Appcodes or DevHQ? Alternatively has anyone paid for someone to help them select their keywords?

Please consider tapfortap.com. You'll still have the $100 for any of these other options.

I have subscription for Appcod.es. In general I think the service is good. But you need to invest quite some time to master it. The keyword guessed in appcod is not that accurate, at least not for my app.

As everyone knows, game app tends to have too many choices in keyword selection so it is very hard to find keywords which is highly used in search and low competition. On the other hand, utility apps has too few choices in keyword selection and face high competition on them. Both of them are very tricky.

If anyone knows some service provider which can help you select the keywords, please share the info. I am very interested in it as well.
