Rewarded Reviews / Ratings

Just wanted to know if it is okay to reward users (unlock some feature) for writing a review or rate app (though of course it can't be verified).

There was one thread on this forum last year where someone had written that it is not allowed but I see a lot of App now a days which are using this technique. Wondering if the rules have changed since that thread was written.

Anyone has seen any objection in recent past or has information about using it successfully? Any information about this approach?

It's not allowed per the iTunes Review Guidelines. If the reviewer sees it, he will most likely reject the app.

This assumes of course that the reviewer actually does more than just open your app. ;)

Ha ha which means reviewers are ignoring this in so many apps. Wow. :o

I know developers who have managed to sneak it through. If done right, it can increase your reviews. Done wrong, it will do nothing more than give away free IAPs.

You could try it, and see if it makes it through review. The worst that could happen is a simple reject. Of course if you make it through, you still have the same risk on updates. But at least you can see if it works for you to get more reviews. If not, remove it on an update.
