Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
Advertising with AdMob, Google Adwords, with banner ads - Does it work????
I'd like to hear some people's experience with advertising.
Did Admob work or not work for you? What was the price of your app and how much did you spend?
Have you used Google Adwords? How much did you pay per click? Did you use the keyword "iPhone"? How did you set up your conversion tracking?
Ever bought banner ad space on a specific site? How did that work out for you?
I'm just looking to hear some experiences on advertising from people here. AdMob never really worked. Press releases work but on a very limited run. Looking for a long term advertising option.

People say AdMob is useless - it seems people automate clicking on ads to earn money, so your ads will be just clicked on by robots.
AdWords is rumored as unlikely to work even for shareware programs that cost less than $25.
But if your app costs more than $25, banners and adwords may work.
So far the best way of promotion is having somebody with a blog with a lot of subscribers to review it (see my sig, we help with that). Say, if blog with 50k daily visitors writes about your app, expect 100 or 200 sales on the date the review is published. How many days you'll have such a big sales depends on which TOP100 position you'll reach on the first day. If blog is popular in some small country with about 10M people (e.g. Denmark), you'll get to TOP10 and will be falling from TOP10 slowly for about a week.
iSpreadNews.com - VERY CHEAP (from $63) way to send your iPhone/iPad app announcement to hundreds of blog & news sites owners over the globe.
Just remember that there other countries besides US!
All market outlets I would suggest to market your apps we have listed here, in our App PR & Marketing service description - http://comboapp.com/marketing
PS. Admob does not work, we don't promote any of the apps developed at INTERSOG, LLC , ComboApp parent's company.
I'm looking to create a Google AdWords campaign: Our app is a free download but to utilize the full features (our Receipt Reader service) a monthly subscription is offered.
We have to packages: a $3/month and a $5/month package.
We'd like to specifically target small businesses. Anyone have any experience marketing apps towards businesses and/or using AdWords?
Anyone have any updates on how to use AdWord effectively with iPhone apps?
AdWords is very powerful for the web, but not so sure about selling apps. Anyone ever really had success with AdMob?
With my limited ad words experience marketing an iPhone app it's really tough because there is no way to track your clicks to see what works and what doesn't.
From what I have heard from reading forums. Admob is hugely unsuccessful (A campaign I did had a 95% bounce rate for a website with less than 1 second average time on site... accidental clicks/fraud?)
AdWords doesn't seem to work either but if you can get your hands on a $50 promo code why not give it a shot?
As a small promotion I would highly recommend toucharcade.com they have a large forum base and will help initially get the word out.
There are other ways (see my company link in the signature) but it seems that traditional cpc advertising hasn't worked for anybody that doesn't have a HUGE pocketbook.

adwords will nearly never pay off, as CPC is usually too high to produce a profit, even if you make a sale for every click... (which is nigh impossible)

You can advertise with good banners or you can opt for app reviews in top iPhone related niche websites.
Definitely don't use a big one like adwords. Use a smaller one (you'll get a better deal and better support) that has an attractive optimization method to target content.

Depends on the size of the site. If they are a big site they might just outsource all that to ad networks.

Direct advertising however does work if you advertise on highly targeted sites and have a good banner ad designed.
