Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.

Cross Promote Apps

One of the biggest ways app devs are doing well is cross-app promotion.

If you can get going with 1 or 2 apps then you can push a splash screen to all of you current users to check out your new app.

I am learning that this is the "secret sauce"

The more downloads you have out there, the more your app would be pushed.

I am starting a new service CrossAppPromo

check it out here...

We've tried times and times again, a service like that won't work. Unless you are really $erious about it.

We've got a completely free/automated service that does exactly what you are proposing, a simple SDK, 2 lines of code, then totally free, got analytics and everything.

No-one is interested, even in a completely free service, nevermind paying...

I still believe it's a good idea, generally, but for some reason it won't catch up.

    Never saddle a dead horse.

I see your point. This idea has spring up after talking to a very successful app game dev.

As they began promoting their other apps with pushes and splash screens, their installs skyrocketed.

I think it is important to have similar apps.

I put the page up yesterday and I already have 3 devs wanting to do exchanges.

I think it is getting harder and harder to get installs. This really could be a great, affordable way.

Of course it remains to be seen :-)

You might want to checkout Applifer. They started a while back doing the same thing you are describing for Facebook apps (non-mobile).

i think the key is providing relevancy. This means app A can promote app B, but they must be relevant.

Not sure if this is still legit: download app B and receive free credits to spend on app A.
    About me

I experiment a lot with game analytics. Weapon of choice: Playtomic

Cross Promotion ey, this actually sounds interesting. Does the cross promotion appear as a push notification or is it built into the app? can someone clarify a little more on this cross promotion model.

Chartboost look profesional, has anyone used them?

    cheers

There is also Splash at Get Splash! which is a free cross-promotion network for indies - similar to Applifier Mobile

Yes, I have to say this is the secret sauce and that relevance is key. I have a friend who built his own system to cross promote his own apps. whenever he launches a new game- he sends notifications to all his current players (which is in the millions) prompting them to download it. By doing this he has pushed his apps to as high as the #1 spot (in the Free games category) in the entire app store!

After seeing his success, and gaiving me some pointers, we set out to create our own system and just 1 month into it, it's proven to be super successful.

Both of our games: "My Virtual Girlfriend Lite" and "My Virtual Boyfriend Lite" have over 3/4 million downloads. and we initiate burst ads (at the beginning of a game) and interstitial ads (during gameplay- replaces load screens), to promote others apps and help rank them up.

If any dev wishes to cross promote with me, (that have some relevance or similar target audience to my games), contact me. mike@wetproductions.com

In our first month we had 2 clients who i was able to double their rankings in the app store from a top 50 position to a top 25 position and each of them received nearly 100,000 impressions each and about 5000 clicks each in just 30 days.
There are 3 options i'm offering
Option A): A one time fee of $500.00 for 30 days (this includes both burst and interstitial ads).
Option B): $0.15 cpc rate (we can measure clicks and impressions)
Option C): Pure 1 to 1 trade, click per click

Other vendors will charge 3X - 5X what im asking. But since we are new, and still refining our system, we are offering this at a low price- and provided that you allow us to disclose our findings. its a great value

Cross promo isn't a hugely successful technique. Anyone with analytics in their app who has tried it knows that it doesn't really work. Many times you will see per user revenue trail off because cross promo effectively leads users out of your app. I know several top 25 app devs who have stopped doing it for that reason.

Also, sending notifications with info about your other apps is a violation of Apple's TOS. I know a lot of devs do it, but it's like Tapjoy - one day it will go away, so best not to rely on it.
