Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.
Appirater is totally allowed and I would definitely recommend asking users to rate your App - be sensible about when you ask them, and who you ask (i.e. users that have completed actions that indicate they had a positive experience).
Cool App idea …
ThemeForest have a great selection of iPhone App Landing pages.. http://themeforest.net/search?utf8=✓&term=iphone+app
It's a great cost-effective way of getting a page up!
It seems you are providing more human-like pr services, I may join you later.
We actually try our absolute best not to a lot of the time, but the truth is between the quality of most Press Releases submitted and the lack of initial interest in sai…
Pricing and availability is set per-region. In the Apple Developer Connection you can set different availability dates for each region.
e.g. Set it to next week for 'worldwide', then set it to now for 'Canada' and that should have the desired effec…
@raymng Absolutely. That's more where we focus anyway. Direct contact with App reviewers is #1 for getting reviews on those sites. I've always found Press Releases are good for picking up a couple smaller reviews (a lot of big review sites just igno…
Great point.
Question - is there any way of knowing if the chicken or the egg came first? (i.e. they set up their page and that helped, or they set up their page once the App was popular?)
Also - could this just be related more to the fact that 98…
@Yoshkow - I just spat Zico coconut water in to my keyboard. Thanks... off to the Apple Store! It's sticky now!
As for the current debate, I won't chime in on specifics but at a high level, the way I see it is that there are good approaches to PR a…
There should be a place where developers can reference for successes and failures of campaigns with various providers.. I would make it, but it would seem biased!
The big problem that I see is making it objective and not filled exclusively with peo…
@mraalex - hit a key point there, the 'New & Noteworthy' and Featured categories are a big boon and are somewhat self-perpetuating, being in them, helps you to get more downloads which helps you to stay up in the charts, getting more downloads a…
I would strongly recommend, if possible, to find somebody to work with - whether it be another coder, a designer (or both) - don't worry about 'sharing' rewards - 1/3 of potentially nothing is very little as @kkkkkkkk said..
The reason that I beli…
@soum500 - not a bad idea if what you're looking for is a distribution service that will put your Press Release in loads of decent-PageRank, no user situations. In my experience - that doesn't drive downloads at all, it may help with your domain aut…
Yeah - it's very difficult (and time-consuming) to objectively monitor the success of campaigns, but you will notice the difference between a successful and not-successful campaign in your search results and hopefully in App sales :)
I've seen that for a period before - not the case for any of my Apps right now.
My assumption was similar to yours - that it was somehow fraudulent and used to liquidate iTunes cards' value.
@raymng - I would try to find what works for you, your App and your user-base. Not all services are equal for different types of Apps. e.g. we at AppLaunch are currently weaker for Education Apps (not many contacts - just a distribution list), but m…
@StayFoolish - I would leave your App in the store and submit your fix with an Expedited Review request (https://developer.apple.com/appstore/contact/appreviewteam/index.html) - they tend to get sorted in 24 hours. :)
Firstly - "friendlier more common animal such as a dragon" - great sentence!
Education is a relatively low-trafficked category so it's unsurprising that any reasonable press would push you to the top (and indeed push other Apps up above you when yo…
I hate it when that happens - has happened to my Apps in the past too! Are you regularly releasing updates? App Store rankings definitely have a staleness penalty.
If you make it this far down the list of replies, then drop me an email at chris@app…
@raymng - You should absolutely generate press as often as is reasonably possible. 'Reasonably' however, means it must coincide with a new features or a new 'angle' on the App. Reviewers are people too and very quickly get bored of reading 'XYZ app …
There are a lot of great ways to get your App some coverage for free - Alan from Appromoter is on here a lot talking about their service - it's a good place to have yourself indexed (I like their Promo code management for reviewers), and there are a…
I would tend to agree with these guys - unless there's some new iOS 6 feature that you can integrate that's an obvious win, there's no advantage in waiting. You should however, make sure to install the iOS 6 beta on to a device and test your App - d…
@raymng - We tend to advise (and do the same for our customers at AppLaunch) about 2 days. Nothing worse than receiving a bump on an email you hadn't even gotten to yet, but you want the news to still feel fresh.
Our press team will always do a lit…
I have always found 99designs to be a great resource for getting App icons made - you can work with a lot of different designers and I have always ended up with something I'm *very* happy with!
It has been understood for a while now that Apple essentially ignores the description text in indexing for the Store (since the introduction of the keywords field), but they just revamped it recently and rumour has it that once again, Description te…
PRMac hits a great price point - it's worth giving it a shot, even if you can't necessarily track any specific ROI.
I played recently with PressKing - it's a self-serve PR database that you can pay-per-contact for. Their App database is a little th…
Hey Philonik,
It's great to have people contributing content to the community like this! Thanks!
Over the past couple of years I've flip-flopped between App Annie and App Figures through several Apps - there are things that each of them do really …
I've pulled together an implementation of a Native Twitter Follow Button using these images and made it available on GitHub... Feel free to use it!
Twitter Follow Button for iOS / iPhone – Code | Chris' notes
