Please do not post the same thing multiple times. The board software automatically flags certain posts as needing moderator attention. This happens the most often for new users. I'm pretty sure this is made clear at the time you attempt to post. Posting the same thing over and over again just makes that many more posts the moderators have to weed through later. This makes us sad. Don't make us sad. If your post/thread doesn't appear, just wait a while. Don't post it again. If it hasn't shown up by the next day, then you can try again. I normally go through posts in the mornings, and try to check a few times throughout the day, but I'm not here 24/7. There will typically be a significant delay before posts are approved. Just be patient.

  • Smileys and frownies in your code? Use code formatting - UPDATED

    Updated for new forum software:

    From what I can tell, the specific code to use can vary depending on which applies:
    - Editing an older post that was migrated from vBulletin
    - Creating a fresh new post here in Vanilla

    The giveaway appears to be at the bottom left of the posting area. If you see:
    - "You can use BBCode in your post", that should be a vBulletin post
    - "You can use Simple HTML in your post", that should be a Vanilla post

    The BBCode version is:

    [ code ] whatever [ / code ] (without spaces)

    The HTML version is:

    < pre > < code > whatever < / code > < / pre > (without spaces)

    You do need the pre tag, as shown in the following examples:

    Smileys: :) :(

    [ code] blah [ / code] typed manually
    // Line 1
    // Line 2 :)
    // Line 3
    - (void)setString:(NSString *)string;

    < code > blah < / code > typed manually
    // Line 1
    // Line 2 :)
    // Line 3
    - (void)setString:(NSString *)string;

    < pre >< code > blah < / code > < / pre > typed manually
    // Line 1
    // Line 2 :)
    // Line 3
    - (void)setString:(NSString *)string;
    Hitting the C button that is between the strike-through and image buttons
    // Line 1
    // Line 2 :)
    // Line 3
    - (void)setString:(NSString *)string;

    Based on a quick test, it seems that the C button will produce the correct code for each circumstance. So since this is an older post, I got the [ code] version. In a test of a newer post, I got the pre/code version. So when in doubt, just hit the C button.
